Career Profile
H.E. Hon. Cyprian Awiti is a Kenyan politician and the former Governor of Homa Bay County in Kenya. Awiti began his career
working for Kenya’s Ministry of Public Works as an ElectricalInspector, he left after a few years and began working at
Mombasa Polytechnic as a Senior lecturer. In 1993, he wasappointed country director at Marie Stopes Kenya where he
served there till 2010. In 2015 he was elected Governor of HomaBay County. He holds Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
from University of Nairobi.
1993- 2010: Country Director at Marie Stopes Kenya (he spearheaded development and Implementation of various health policies)
1988- 1994: Principal at Railway Training School (he nurtured successful engineers)
1983- 1988: Senior Education Officer, in the Ministry of Education, Jogoo house.
1980- 1983: Factory and Marketing Manager of Siemens Kenya
