CURRICULUM FOR DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY HEALTH AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
RATIONALE FOR THE PROGRAM
The African Continent has for a long time been faced with many challenges such as the old diseases, new emerging diseases (SARS COV-19) and those that re-emerge and are drug – resistant. In addition to the burden of disease, the emerging issues such as Climate change as a result of industrialization, dumping of waste in the Marine bodies, wars/conflicts all impact negatively not only on human health but equally on animal and aquatic lives. Despite many interventions, most causes of morbidity and mortality are diseases which are preventable through simple measures. Hence the Department through Uzima University has established collaborations with the Communities within the County and without through the Community Health Strategy Program that gives a robust frame work where every stakeholder (Departments/Ministries) have a collective responsibility when it comes to health issues. Hence in order to greatly contribute positively to health and a peaceful environment for all (both human and animal), there`s need to train highly qualified Professionals in the field of Community Health and Sustainable Development
