Uzima University School of Medicine was established as part of Faculty of Health Sciences of Uzima University, with the first group of Medical students being admitted in July 2012. The rationale of establishing the school was in order to bridge the gap for patient to doctor ratio; to support efforts of the national authorities in the AMECEA countries in providing modern health care training and research aimed at improving health and health care service delivery to the community.

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree programme aims at equipping students with knowledge, relevant medical skills and attitudes for quality health services in hospitals and other health related facilities and to enhance Christian living and enriching human dignity.

The School is headed by the Dean, assisted by Heads of Departments and several Committees that help run the affairs of the school.

So far, the School has graduated 3 groups of Medical Students.

Apart from teaching, our School excels in clinical service provision, and our clinical staff comprises the medical experts in our teaching hospital at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching referral Hospital..
