HRIM Department
Poor data and information management remains an impediment to effective provision of health services in the country, this was the driving force behind the establishment of health records and information management program in Uzima University.
With skilled and experienced lecturers, we aim at producing competent Health Information Officers with a solid scientific base, ethics and professional attributes requisite in the provision of quality health care services in all settings.
We offer both certificate and diploma, our point of entry and curriculum is in line with the Association of medical records officers Kenya (AMRO-K) requirements. Apart from theory, our students are subjected to a three months clinical attachment at selected hospitals by the University.The department is looking forward to establishing Bachelors program soon.
The department has developed a memorandum of understanding with Kisumu County therefore our students can utilize any health facility within the county depending on the level required by the carriculum.Jaramogi OgingaOdinga teaching and referral hospital forms our key hospital of reference.

HEALTH INFORMATION OFFICER-KISUMU URBAN APOSTOLATE PROGRAM-2016-2017
Responsibilities:
- Computing hospital administrative statistics.
- Making appointments for patients to the consultant clinics.
- Collection and tabulation of medical data.
- Coding and indexing using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) and the International Classification of Procedures in Medicine (ICPM).
- Organizing and/or participating in M&E related capacity building activities targeting organizational staff; health facility staff; and other stakeholders
- Work closely with other organizational staff and stakeholders to strengthen systems for monitoring patient outcomes; monitoring the quality of care; tracing patients who default; data quality assurance; and data collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination
- Providing expertise in developing and/or review of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of program performance
